I booked a room with a comfortable bed, climate control, TV set and a microwave oven. The hotel was in the remote setting close to centre of town. Moreover, it's short walk to a leafy caravan park on the edge of town, a 24 hour truck stop and the restaurants...

When I pulled up to Cobar Caravan Park, my first impressions were pretty good despite a few hiccups along the way. The key collection process was super easy. I arrived late, around 9:30 PM, and just as I was told, there was supposed to be a key in a lockbox. But guess what? No key! After a brief moment of panic, I contacted the after-hours number. Unfortunately, that’s where things took a turn. The woman on the line was incredibly unfriendly and seemed really annoyed that I had woken her up. I mean, I had no idea I was supposed to do that since they gave me an email saying the key would be ready! Okay, moving on, once I finally got into the cabin, the air conditioning was a lifesaver. It was a scorching 40 degrees outside, and stepping into a cool, comfortable cabin made all the difference. The bed was cozy enough, although the mattress could use an upgrade; it felt a bit too thin and springy for my taste. I did enjoy having a dining table and garden furniture outside to enjoy the breeze, even if it was a bit too hot for prolonged time outside. The cabin came with basic tea and coffee facilities, which is always a plus. I didn't really use the kitchen because I was tired from my long drive and just wanted to order takeout instead, but it had necessary cookware and kitchen utensils. There was a small fridge, but it felt a bit cramped, especially for a 2-bedroom cabin. I could see that being an issue if I had more people with me. Now, about the laundry facilities, they were pretty tidy, and having change available at reception for the washers and dryers was convenient. I liked that there was enough space to air dry clothes if you had the time to do so. While the place was clean and generally well-kept, I have to mention the bizarre situation with the parking. My spot was occupied by two other vehicles, so I ended up parking a bit further away than I preferred. That was slightly annoying after a long day of driving. Then, there's the check-in experience—it was definitely rocky with the rude reception. The gal clearly wasn’t happy I booked through an external site and made me feel like I was inconveniencing them, which was really not what I expected at all. All in all, there were some really enjoyable aspects like the air conditioning and cleanliness, but a few things could definitely use tweaking, especially customer service and better communication regarding the cabins. So, if you’re heading to Cobar, maybe just be prepared for a mix of good and not-so-good, and don't forget to call ahead if you're arriving late!

During our Christmas stay, we were pleased with the convenient location of the accommodation. We also enjoyed the warm shower and comfortable bedding provided, which made our stay comfortable and relaxing.
Our experience was slightly tarnished due to some maintenance issues with the amenities. The microwave was out of order, which made it difficult to heat up our food.
